Patron of Reading - St Aldhelm's Primary School UK
*Patron of Reading initiative in partnership with Wells Festival of Literature
I am extremely excited and honoured to be appointed Patron of Reading 2026/2027 for St Aldhelm's Primary School, Doulting, UK.
Their education outreach programme is second to none, is such a valuable asset to the school community,
and should be the envy of other festivals.
Thank you for letting me be part of this journey by being your Patron of Reading.
I’ve no doubt that this is going to be a fantastic journey to establish St Aldhelm’s Primary as a ‘Reading School!'
This would not have been made possible without the the amazing education outreach team at Wells Festival of Literature making this happen. www.wellsfestivalofliterature

What is Patron of Reading?
*A Patron of Reading is a school's special children's author, poet, storyteller or illustrator. The school and their patron develop a relationship over a period of time. Everything the patron does is related to helping encourage and develop a reading for pleasure culture in the school: blogs, book recommendations, discussions, plays, book quizzes, poetry bashes, parent sessions, book trailers and school visits. The possibilities are virtually endless. Created by head teachers Tim Redgrave, the headteacher at Ysgol Esgob Morgan in North Wales, and Jon Biddle, teacher at West Earlham Junior School in Norwich. The idea has now spread to over 200 schools across the British Isles (as well as to schools as far away as New Zealand and the USA!).
